In this class Laura Riseborough will introduce you to The Free Association approach to the game of the scene in long form improv.
The workshop will look at identifying what’s funny in your scenes, how to invest in and keep the funny going, and the value of committed and authentic supportive play to enhance those comedic choices.
Laura Riseborough
Laura Riseborough is an Improviser, Actor and Character Comedian. In the UK, Laura has performed in comedies and dramas for the BBC, Disney, RSC, Barbican Theatre, 21Soho & The Pleasance.
Laura performs and teaches long-form at The Free Association in London, along with coaching a number of other UK teams. She has guested on tour with Austentatious, Steen Improvises with Friends & the Great Job podcast. She can be seen performing in her regular teams ‘666 Hell Lane’, ‘Fluff’ & ‘Northern Powerhouse’. Last year she played at Das Improv Fest in Berlin, Edinburgh Fringe and International Comedy Festival in Scotland.
Free Association
The Free Association is London’s premiere longform improv school and theatre. They teach thousands of students and perform hundreds of shows each year at their base in East London. FA improv training focuses on creating and sustaining comedic longform scenes through commitment to character point of view, grounding, and following the game of the scene. The goal of FA improv classes is to find what’s making the audience laugh, and then find a way to keep doing it!
